To use the Advoize Group Talk Conference Bridge take note of the following:
You will be assigned with a conference number by the conference bridge. The conference number is the telephone number you are calling from, without the preceding zeros. For example, if you will be calling the conference bridge from 082-123-4567 then your conference number is 82-123-4567. If you are calling from a telephone (or cellphone) that restricts or blocks your number, you will not be allowed to set-up a conference. You should ensure that you can set-up the conference from a telephone that passes your telephone number on to the conference bridge. You can test if your telephone number is sent to the conference bridge by calling 084 190 0036 and selecting option (1).
As the host and initiator of the conference you need to supply an optional pin number. The pin number provides an additional level of security and ensures that only participants who know the conference number and pin number are able to join the conference. Any 4 digit number may be used as a pin number, for example, 4275.
As the conference session is dynamically created each time, at least one person needs to be in the conference for the conference number and pin number to remain valid. Once the last person in the conference leaves, all information on the conference is deleted and you will need to setup the conference session again.
Participants may join from any local or international telephone. The conference bridge can be accessed by dialing +27 84 190 0036 from outside South Africa.
To setup a conference bridge as a host is easy:
Inform all participants in advance of the conference number, the pin number and the time of the conference.
As the host and initiator of the conference you will need to call 084 190 0036 a few minutes before the other participants to set-up the conference bridge.
Select option (1) after the announcement.
The conference bridge will tell you your conference number.
Enter an optional pin number followed by the hash(#) key. If a pin number is not supplied within a few seconds your conference call will only be identified by the conference number (i.e. your telephone number). Other participants will not be prompted for a pin number when they join your conference call.
You will now become the first participant in the conference.
Participants can join the conference by following the steps below:
Each participant should dial 084 190 0036 from his/her telephone.
Select option (2) after the announcement.
Enter the conference number (supplied by the host) followed by the hash(#) key when prompted.
Enter the pin number (supplied by the host) followed by the hash(#) key when prompted.
If the conference and pin numbers are correct the participant will be allowed to join the conference.
The conference bridge is free for you to use. All participants in the conference call only pay for the cost their phone-call to 084 190 0036, as charged by their landline or cellular service provider. Calls to the conference bridge number from a cellphone are charged at local VAS rates and free minutes may not be used. Calls from landlines and from overseas are charged at the applicable South African cellular call rate by the service provider. No additional charges are applicable for using the conference bridge service.
